Lesson two: Using Start, Continue, Song Position

At first go to the machine settings and set the Song position unit to "Rebirth Bars".
  • Create a song in Rebirth with some different patterns and some some bars long (8 bars should be enough). Set Rebirth to Song mode
  • Create a pattern for the Rebirth MIDI machine and name it "Start". On the beginning enter the start command "0" at the first column.
  • Create another pattern for the Rebirth MIDI machine. Let's call it "Cont1". Here enter a continue command ("1"). In the column for the song position enter the number of a bar. The bar is the song position in Rebirth.
  • Go to the song sequencer. As the first pattern for the song use the "Start" pattern. Then use the "Cont1" for the other ones.
  • Play the song from the beginning. Rebirth also starts at position 1.
  • Now stop the song an start again. You will see that Rebirth will continue playing on the next "Start" or "Continue" command. Because you have entered a song position for the continue command Rebirth will first jump to the given songposition before continuing.
Note: All start, continue and song position commands are ignored, if the song is already running. This means after a start/cont, following starts or conts will be ignored until you stop the song.
